Position Summary
Reporting to Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Seamer Mechanic will be Responsible to insure safe execution of predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance. Candidate must have maintenance mechanic/technician/electrical experience in a manufacturing and/or food processing plant. The ideal candidate must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- 2 years previous maintenance experience
- Bilingual (conversational)
- Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English
- Basic math knowledge
- Ability to work independently and multitask
- Reading and understanding safety data sheets
- Teamwork skills with the ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to work in a changing environment
- Ability to handle high levels of stress to keep the plant and field equipment running
Position Responsibilities
- Ability to perform standard mechanical repairs and troubleshooting on all types of food processing equipment.
- Knowledge and experience of Seamers and Fillers.
- Ability to troubleshoot, maintain and repair Angelus Seamers and all types of Filling equipment.
- Ability to perform seam teardowns for can inspections and perform the necessary seamer adjustments on all can sizes.
- Strong Welding knowledge and skills.
- Electrical knowledge principles
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Paperwork necessary for department
- Perform other duties as assigned
Position Requirements
- Flexible for all shifts; understand and follow instructions
- Maintenance and electrical experience in a manufacturing environment
- Manufacturing and/or food and beverage industry experience a requirement
- Ability to weld and use welding equipment safely (required)
- Ability to cut with a torch (required)
- Familiar with OSHA safety regulations (required)
- Experience with a plasma cutter (required)
- Experience with power tools (required)
- Some pipefitting experience (required)
- Lubrication
- Visual inspections
- Ability to read mechanical/electrical schematics
- Conduct any special task as required by supervisor
- Be able to lift 50 lbs. consistently throughout the day
- Frequently required to walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance.
- General electrical, gas control and basic mechanical experience needed
- Must be able to pass the standard Forklift Driver written & driving exams
