Position Summary
The Senior Director, Supply Chain will lead the development and execution of demand and supply planning strategies to support the company’s Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process. This role is responsible for building accurate forecasts, aligning cross-functional stakeholders, and ensuring supply plans meet both short- and long-term business objectives. Partnering closely with Sales, Product Line Management, Operations, and Agricultural teams, the position will develop fact-based forecasts, optimize inventory utilization, and recommend proactive solutions to address demand variability and crop risk. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical expertise, ERP (SAP preferred) experience, and the ability to build scalable planning processes that enhance business performance. Success in this role requires exceptional problem-solving skills, cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to influence decisions across all levels of the organization.   
 
Position Responsibilities
 
Demand Planning
  1. Leading the SBU Demand Reviews that support Sales and Operations Planning.  This position has strong interfaces between the Sales, Product Line Management, Quality, Operations and Planning teams.  
  2. Developing, monitoring and managing the seasonal production and long-range product demand plans. You will use statistical analysis to support fact-based decision making that incorporates historical and trend analysis. You will collaborate with key stakeholders in sales, product line management, and operations throughout the demand and supply planning process to help support the business.
  3. Sales forecasting at customer/ SKU level and Fraction/ MPG/Pack level
    1. Reviewing monthly sales forecasts with sales team members and “keeping them honest”
    2. Reviewing customer pace of pulls vs Contracts
    3. Reviewing variance between contract pace and forecast and highlighting variance to sales account managers/ PLMs as a basis for corrective follow up action/ contract modification
    4. Building out appropriate sales forecast/ variance against budget/ variance against forecast/ variance against forecast/ variance against forecast/ variance against LY reports
Supply Planning
  1. Working together with Ag ops, PLM, Manufacturing ops to drive to a consensus across demand and availability in both the short and long term which will be used to drive critical upstream and downstream business processes. This position will provide timely information and recommendations to Supply Chain, Mfg and Ag ops and PLM to arrive at the following
    1. Crop plan for O&G
    2. Drier plans
    3. Mill plans
    4. Packaging plans
    5. Irradiation plans
    6. Toasting/ toasting plans
    7. S&OP position reports.
  2. Leading planning strategies and processes that result in high supply forecast accuracy and on-time order fulfillment. Driving long range, annual and seasonal categorical and product-type opportunity analysis and supply forecast strategies. Support the company’s culture and business mission by promoting communication, teamwork, and the respectful treatment of all individuals.
  1. Continuing to enhance supply chain strategies by evaluating industry “Best Practices” in forecasting as well as understanding technological advances throughout industry and how these advances impact the company.
  2. Assisting the Supply Manager to plan, coordinate, and execute monthly ordering process for all brands to ensure key performance targets are met related to macro inventory plan, sourcing strategies, on-time delivery of goods
  3. Developing and supporting continuous improvement strategies by focusing on streamlining forecast and inventory processes while optimizing the supply chain network.
  4. Participating in Sales and Operations Planning process execution and presenting to management for obtaining consensus on sales/purchase/inventory plans to achieve working capital targets
  5. Developing and supporting execution of plans to reduce and eliminate excess and slow/non-moving inventory
  6. Inventory and position mapping against forecasted demand and contracted demand for current year and future year
    1. Highlighting excess inventory and deficits
    2. Recommending timely solutions to bridge inventory gap/ excess
    3. Tracking aging inventory, highlighting risks and recommending ways to utilize slow moving material in a timely manner
    4. Optimizing the use of inventory to achieve business profitability goals best
  • Proper forecasting of crop year mix in current month, quarter and full year sales
  • Identify and recommend blocks of lower cost/ slow moving inventory that can be used against current sales contracts/ orders with some spec deviation and the nature of such deviation, extent of cost saving
  1. Linking annual and Crop year sales forecasts and inventory to recommend
    1. Appropriate crop plans for the next 2 years to meet demand
    2. Fraction wise split to meet projected demand
    3. Scenario planning for different levels of crop risk and developing solutions to tackle these problems
 
Position Requirements
  • BS or BA Degree in business or supply chain.
  • 12 years minimum of relevant forecasting, demand planning, or supply chain management experience required
  • Ability to build processes from the ground up to help accelerate business performance
  • Special skills – Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate with other departments.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Outstanding organizational skills.
  • Experience and ability to drive products through tactical, meaningful demand planning with thoughtful/analytically viewed recommendations is required
  • Experience with demand planning process development is strongly preferred
  • Experience working with ERP systems, SAP strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated analytic and problem solving capabilities. Able to draw conclusions and provide business insight from working with multiple sets of data.
  • Experience working with both internal and external sources of supply.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite of products (Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Exemplary communication skills (verbal, written, interpersonal).
  • Global supply chain experience a plus
  • Professional certifications preferred (e.g., APICS, ISM).

The pay for this role ranges from $ 130,000 – $173,000 annually and is based on the position responsibilities and geographic location. Actual pay within this range may be determined based on the candidate's experience, qualifications, and/or other determining factors.
