Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Tech will be responsible for maintaining, cleaning, and repairing equipment in the plant and buying point facilities and office areas. All levels responsible for maintaining proper paperwork and documentation.
The Incumbent(s) may advance to the next higher-level position after gaining a minimum of a year of experience at each level, in addition to having successfully demonstrated proficiencies needed to meet the qualifications of the higher level. A Probationary Period of 120 days is required for movement from one level to the next.
Maintenance Technician I: The skilled entry level class in the Maintenance Technician series. Initially under close supervision, incumbents learn and perform a variety of duties in the maintenance and operations of Peanut Shelling Operations and Buying Points.
Maintenance Technician II: The experienced journey level class in the series, fully competent to independently perform duties. This level is distinguished from the lower classification of Maintenance Technician I by the relative independence with which duties are performed. This level will begin learning or have basic fabricator skills and begin machine troubleshooting and independent repair.
Maintenance Technician III: Must have the experience and skillset of Levels I and II in addition to advanced fabrication skills and beginning electrical experience. Advanced troubleshooting and independent repair must be demonstrated.
Maintenance Technician IV: Must have the experience and skillset of Levels I-III in addition to advanced electrical skills including instrumentation and programming. Must have the ability to direct other maintenance employees in absence of maintenance manager or supervisor.
Position Responsibilities (based on Technician Level):
Perform a variety of skilled work in the maintenance and repair of plant and buying point facilities and equipment; prioritize, schedule, assign and coordinate the work of assigned staff to accomplish a wide variety of duties related to the plant.
Assist in the purchase, installation, maintenance and repair of electrical wiring and fixtures. Perform troubleshooting to repair or replace fans and motors and perform repairs to motors, bells, clocks and lighting circuits.
Perform skilled maintenance and repair on mechanical and electrical equipment. Test and replace circuits, troubleshoot and correct defective switches, receptacles, ballasts and other wiring and perform routine mechanical and electrical maintenance.
Operate a variety of equipment and machines including saws, drill presses and various hand and power tools to perform repair and maintenance work. Maintain tools and equipment in a safe, clean and proper working condition.
Ensure all Lock Out Tag Out, Confined Space, Working at Heights, Hot Work Permits and At-Risk activity policies are strictly followed. Ensure all required permits, work orders, and relevant, required documentation has been completed accurately.
While performing these duties, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to fingers to handle / feel or pull; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk and hear.
