Position Summary
Reporting to the Sr. Trader Director, the Dairy Trader will be primarily responsible for supporting trade execution and sales growth for the Business-To-Business (B2B) Dairy portfolio. With an emphasis in physical sales and business development of dairy commodities domestically and into Mexico, essential job functions include B2B procurement, sales, and contract execution. The successful candidate will possess strong relationship and negotiation skills required to earn and keep business. A high level of attention to detail and follow-up to ensure strategy and contracts are executed properly will be vital in ensuring success in this role.
Position Responsibilities
- Support the execution of the Dairy business trading plan.
- Develop and manage customer networks in target markets, primarily in Mexico.
- Grow dairy commodity sales to support the overall business profitability.
- Engage in frequent interaction with customers, understanding and responding to their needs, and submitting offers.
- Communicate consistently and frequently with partners in the dairy industry to identify opportunities for business that will enhance overall profitability.
- Manage the credit and counterparty exposures within prescribed limits.
- Ensure credit is rotated efficiently with on-time collections.
- Develop a knowledge of dairy ingredients and applications to enhance your strategic partnership with customers.
- Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and customers within the dairy space.
- Execute purchases and sales of dairy commodities.
- Develop and foster supplier and customer retention by ensuring value delivery.
- Work closely with logistics and operations team to ensure smooth execution of contracts.
- Expand market presence within the industry by participating in industry forums.
- Create weekly market reports and information database for internal stakeholders.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
- High School Diploma is required. A bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business, Finance, Marketing, Ag Business, or related field is strongly preferred.
- Four (4) years in sales/customer service or another related field is required. Candidates may substitute a bachelor's degree in preferred field in lieu of experience.
- Experience in selling B2B and/or commodities is preferred.
- Fluency in English and Spanish, both written and verbally is required.
- Experience in credit management is desirable.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to identify issues, propose solutions, and make sound decisions are required.
- Strong customer service orientation with a passion for delivering exceptional customer experiences and building long-term relationships is required.
- Experience in proactively seeking out new sales opportunities through various channels, including cold calling, networking, and leveraging market research to identify potential customers is required.
- An ability to build a pipeline of qualified leads by strategically targeting and engaging with new customers, ensuring a steady flow of new business opportunities is required.
- Highly skilled deal negotiation is preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex information clearly and effectively are required.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and foster trusting relationships with both internal and external stakeholders is required.
- Analytical thinking with an ability to provide key insights into the market is required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, including but not limited to Excel, Outlook, and Word, is required.
- Previous working exposure to domestic and/or international trade is preferred.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, effectively managing workload to meet deadlines, while ensuring a high standard of quality is required.
- Travel to target markets to maintain regular presence on ground. Travel up to 30%, including international (Mexico).
The pay for this role in the state of CA ranges from $68,650 – $83,000 and is based on the position responsibilities and geographic location. Actual pay within this range may be determined based on candidate’s experience, qualifications and/or other determining factors.
