Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager the Maintenance Supervisor oversees the completion of the day-to-day activities, involving the maintenance of the facilities, equipment and machinery including HVAC, building lighting systems, product production lines, grounds keeping, and overall facility appearance. Supervises and coordinates the work of employees who repair and maintain the facilities, equipment, and machinery. Through effective planning, problem-solving design, staffing, parts ordering, and training keeps downtime at a minimum. Evaluates, recommends, and implements changes to production and other equipment to improve efficiencies and reduce costs.
Position Responsibilities
Plan, prioritize, assign, supervise, review, and participate in the work of staffresponsible for facility maintenance.
Establish schedules and methods for providing facility maintenance services; identify resource needs; review needs with appropriate management staff; allocate resources accordingly.
Ensure compliance with established policies and procedures.
Monitor and control supplies and equipment, order supplies and tools as necessary
Review and process invoices for timely payment
Coach, counsel and manage performance of direct reports per company policy and collective bargaining agreement.
Review for compliance and approve daily employee timesheets on a timely manner
Create and post employee work schedules, manage and process vacation requests and post and manage the overtime sign up process.
Develop and maintain a Preventive Maintenance Schedule program for applicable equipment and machinery.
Enforce sound safety and housekeeping practices
Train or coordinate training in facility maintenance and safety methods, procedures, and techniques.
Conduct workplace safety inspection and submit behavioral observations on a monthly basis.
Coordinate special projects.
Assist in the preparation of various contracts, requests for proposals, and reports.
Perform the more technical and complex tasks of the work unit.
Attend and participate in professional group meetings; maintain awareness of new trends
Coordinate corrective action as necessary to resolve complaintsper company policy and collective bargaining agreement.
Arrange for and manage,appropriate third-party contractor support, as needed.
Demonstrate tact and diplomacy with the internal and external customers
Direct building repairs and alterations.
Oversee construction and repair projects
Provide direction on future plans for plant and processing equipment.
Provide direction on keeping maintenance budget within –5%, + 0%.
Direct production and distribution of steam, electricity, water, and compressed air.
Direct upgrade and maintenance of electrical and electronic facilities.
Compile and maintainfactual information on plant facilities.
Establish and maintain maintenance standards on parts and procedures.
Provide technical support and direction to maintenance supervisors, mechanics, and non-exempt support personnel.
Update plant process flow diagrams, system schematics, and plant layouts.
Perform other related duties as required.
Position Requirements
BS Degree in Mechanical/Electrical/emphasis in food processing or related field
3-5 years of increasingly responsibility supervising facility maintenance in a food manufacturing environment to include overhaul planning, and equipment modification
Demonstrated mechanical and electrical knowledge and repair abilities.
Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems
Analytical and problem-solving skills are required.
Exhibit strong judgment and decision-making skills
Plan and organize plant-wide overhaul
Proficiency in mechanical, drafting, and organizational skills
Skilled in the use of Microsoft Soft(MS) Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint and databases
Ability to develop productive and collaborative working relationships across departments is required.
Excellentinterpersonal skills are required.
Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing
Ability to interface with all types of maintenance contractors
High attention to detail and the ability to multi-taskmultiple complicated priorities/tasks in a fast-paced environment
Ability to perform and comprehend verbal and written communication in English is required.
Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
Ability to work off-shifts and weekends as needed and be on a rotating on-call schedule.
