Position Summary:
Reporting to the Olam Edible Nuts Food Safety & Quality Manager, the Quality Coordinator will work in all quality areas, assist filling in for other Quality positions as needed, perform training and evaluations of Quality Techs, and perform duties and responsibilities as needed by the Quality Department with minimal supervision.
 
Position Responsibilities:
  • Must be able to train Quality Tech 2 employees in Quality procedures and job duties.
  • Evaluate job performance of Quality Tech 2 employees. 
  • Must be able to prepare and complete all Quality and Production forms, labels, and data entry in a consistent and accurate manner.
  • Conduct standardized test of peanuts processed to verify compliance of the specifications as required for the quality of the product and report any concerns to the Quality Management Team.
  • Assist in performing Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Actions as required and directed by the Quality Management Team.
  • Records and completes documentation and data entry of quality test, test procedures, and results. Must notify Supervisor or Quality Management Team of any defects.
  • Compares test results with standards and record results.
  • Assist in reviewing quality and production documentation to ensure that all parameters are met and the required checks, signatures, initials, requirements for analysis are completed properly.
  • While performing these duties, the employee will be required to smell and taste samples of peanut products to ensure they meet specifications.
  • Assist with review, interpreting, and communicate information received on certificates of analysis (COA) from laboratories utilized for analytical and microbiological testing, completing documentation as necessary.
  • Assist with executing and completing product COAs.
  • Assist with executing and completing environmental testing / analysis and completing documentation of tests and results as well as implementing and executing corrective actions.
  • Sets up, adjusts, and operates laboratory equipment, and instruments such as but not limited to colorimeters, scales, moisture analyzers, and sieve shakers.
  • Will be expected to clean and sanitize equipment/instruments and will maintain general housekeeping duties.
  • All employees are directly responsible for the Quality of products produced by ofi-Olam Edible Nuts. Each employee must perform their job function in accordance to Employee Safety requirements, Food Safety Plan, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and Sanitation expectations.
  • Must follow safe work practices and comply with all company, federal and state rules and regulations which apply to the job, including but not limited to, right to Know, emergency evacuation, electrical safety, confined space, blood borne pathogens, and lockout/tagout, and GMPs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
 
Position Requirements
  • College degree or one to three years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other computer-based software applications. 
  • Work independently in the absence of supervision, ensuring that all tasks are completed.
  • Must be able to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.
