Position Summary
Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the Floater will be responsible for operating the Blanchers, Sorters, Oven, and the lab.
The ideal candidate will need to be dependable and able to work with attention to detail and safety standards. We are looking for a skilled operator to set up, maintain and operate machinery. On-the-job training is an effective way to discover how to do the job better, so this candidate should have a willingness to learn and improve. Being a team player is essential since all tasks will require close cooperation with co-workers.
Position Responsibilities
- Know how to operate and maintain Blancher, Sorter, Oven, and Quality Assurance lab.
- Always ensure and maintain adequate levels of product in the sorter and blancher bins and notify the shift supervisor of any insufficient levels.
- Ensure that all equipment is maintained, working, and used properly.
- When operating the blancher, you must inform the dryer operator when to start drying on the next lot.
- Keep the air filters in the oven rotated as needed, and keep the oven clean, by making sure it is clear of skins, hearts, and other debris.
- When operating the oven, keep the oiler filled on the chain and make sure it is working properly.
- Understand the total lab operation.
- Complete all production paperwork in a consistent and accurate manner.
- When operating the Sorters, test samples as required, and report results directly to the Shift Supervisor.
- When operating, the Blanchers perform quality checks hourly on the product being processed.
- All employees are solely responsible for the Quality of Olam Edible Nuts products. Each employee must perform their job function in accordance with the GMP Rules and the Sanitation, Safety, and Food Safety Programs.
- Must follow safe work practices and comply with all company, federal, and state rules and regulations which apply to the job, including but not limited to, right to Know emergency evacuation, electrical safety, confined space, blood borne pathogens and lockout/tagout.
- Keep the Shift Supervisor fully informed of all problems with recommended solutions.
- Execute special projects and other job-related activities as directed.
Position Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1 year of Experience in a food production environment is preferred but not required.
