Position Summary
ofi’s internship program is a great way to gain the relevant experience to jump-start your career.  You will work closely with exceptional talent, building on ofi’s purpose to “Be the Change for Good Food and a Healthy Future” and contributing to critical work for the business.  As a Summer 2025 Intern, you will have opportunities to learn and contribute to what’s on trend in food & beverage while building a robust network, demonstrating leadership skills, and having fun.
 
Reporting to the Senior Technical Manager of Packaging, the Packaging Intern will learn about the packaging industry, including packaging development, specification creation, and management. They will acquire this knowledge by supporting the Packaging Innovation Team while completing an estimated 10-12-week summer project. This hands-on role will gain valuable experience working both with suppliers and internal cross-functional team members on various packaging components. At completion of the internship, you will present findings to the Team and the Intern Cohort.  
 
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a high level of curiosity, initiative, and resourcefulness.  They should work well within a team and be open to direction and feedback.
Ability to work effectively while ensuring attention to detail and deliverables are met will be required for successful completion of this internship.
 
Position Responsibilities
  • Primary responsibility will be to lead one main packaging project and support various other projects
  • Support packaging project activity to deliver against innovation, sustainability, cost savings and/or commercialization agenda.
  • Support packaging sustainability projects to support customer’s and ofi’s sustainability goals and commitments.
  • Support and drive productivity improvement opportunities for packaging function.
  • Develop detailed technical packaging specifications for various packaging components.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
 
Position Requirements
 
  • Current academic standing of a Junior or Senior at an accredited college or university and working toward a bachelor’s degree in Packaging, Material Science, Polymer Science, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering. Background in Packaging Engineering is required.
  • The ability to work effectively within a fast-paced environment is required.
  • Proven record of being a self-starter with a high degree of curiosity, initiative, and resourcefulness is required.
  • Able to prioritize multiple tasks and communicate effectively with various teams and suppliers.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills are required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team is required.
  • Ability to effectively utilize problem-solving skills are required.
  • Prior internship or co-op experience is preferred but not required.

The pay for this role in the state of IL is $23-$24/hr and is based on the position responsibilities and geographic location. 

Interns with permanent address more than 35 miles from the work location are eligible to receive a stipend to offset relocation and housing costs.
