Position Summary
Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Warehouse Manager will be responsible for the overall operation of our warehouse/packaging location and leadership of its people in a fast-paced environment. This position will plan, direct or coordinate production, transportation, storage and distribution activities, implement policies and procedures, and direct improvements in packaging methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions to improve accuracy, customer service, safety and limit costs. The Warehouse Manager will act in accordance with the laws and regulations, by practicing ofi values, ensuring compliance of policies, procedures, and plant rules.
The ideal candidate for the Warehouse Manager will have a proven success record with leading and motivating teams. They should have a self-starter attitude and be flexible and reliable. This individual should have strong leadership and communication skills and a proven track record of building an engaged and productive team.
Position Responsibilities
- Responsible for the management and direct oversight of the packaging and warehouse departments.
- Management of the Boardman Port employees, which include salaried and hourly positions, monitoring work, providing coaching and feedback, ensuring the safe use of equipment and working practice in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Responsible for interviewing and selecting candidates, onboarding, and training of new employees and scheduling.
- Manage and approve employee timecards and track absenteeism and perform attendance coaching in accordance with company policy.
- Promote safety and ensure a safe work environment. Ensure employee work habits and routines are in line with required health and safety protocols.
- Perform routine safety and food safety inspections. Participate in and lead internal audits with internal and external customers.
- Ensure production process follows Good Manufacturing Procedures (GMPs).
- Perform accident investigations, document findings, and share findings with appropriate teams.
- Audit and report inventory of products or materials and make recommendations on which items to order and restock.
- Manage department priorities and provide feedback on goals and production requirements. Establish warehouse practices and protocols to achieve an efficient warehouse.
- Analyze and identify line & warehouse inefficiencies and develop plans for improvements.
- Oversee the receipt and dispersal of materials leaving or entering the warehouse.
- Provide input to senior leadership on appropriate budget. Ensure budget goals are adhered to.
- Lead and support the daily tailgate meetings covering pressing issues, plant performance, and training. Communicate relevant information to employees timely.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area throughout the facility and office area.
- Participate in and lead Plant Committees and initiatives.
- Maintain a cooperative working relationship with customers, vendors, employees, and peers.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
- High School Diploma is required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Food Science, Engineering or a related field from an accredited college/university is preferred.
- Five (5) years food manufacturing, and leadership experience is required.
- Ability to operate as a high energy, enthusiastic leader, with a self-starter mentality and a demonstrated track record of achieving results is required.
- Ability to build and mentor a highly effective team, create engagement while maintaining effective employee relations is required.
- The ability to demonstrate self-confidence to make decisions and solve problems autonomously with minimal direction is required.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required. Previous experience with SAP and ADP is preferred.
- Ability to be organized and able to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and projects simultaneously is required.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written, is required. Ability to communicate with all levels across the organization will be required.
- Must be able wear and use all assigned personal protective equipment (hard hat, gloves, eye protection, ear plugs and steel toe footwear/nonslip, etc.).
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation is required.
- Must possess excellent analytical, quantitative, problem-solving, and technical skills.
- Ability to work in a fast paced, rapidly changing, and regulated environment is required.
- Ability to work independently is required.
- Ability to instill trust and inspire a shared vision is required.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish is preferred.
