Position Summary
 
Reporting to Regional HR Director, the Sr. Human Resources Manager will play a key leadership role at defined multi-site using business and technical Human Resource knowledge to identify HR trends in the organization. They will act as a strategic business partner for executives, managers, supervisors, union representatives, and employees in the development of HR strategies and solutions to align with organizational objectives with a focus on the moments that matter to employees. They will leverage organizational understanding to initiate and influence strategic business priorities. The Sr. HR Manager will lead and execute talent initiatives that enable growth to unlock our human capital potential.
The ideal candidate for this position will be flexible, resilient, and will thrive in a developing workspace. They should be energetic and passionate about the field of Human Resources. They must be able to manage multiple hands-on tasks and changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
 
Position Responsibilities 
  • Utilize coaching skills with senior leaders to diagnose and provide solutions that enable leaders to transform themselves and their teams to be highly productive, deliver on challenging business goals while leading with empathy. 
  • Serve as an employee advocate and consults with managers to optimize the employee experience and drive high levels of engagement. 
  • Consult with leadership and union representatives to ensure positive employee/labor relations and maintain fair and equitable treatment for all employees while ensuring compliance with the collective bargaining agreement (CBA). 
  • Leverage business acumen, competitive insights, external benchmarking, data, and best-in-class organizational design thinking to inform decisions on org structures, processes, policies, and communication strategies. 
  • Drive effective decision making by retrieving and aggregating data from multiple sources and compiling it into a digestible and actionable format. 
  • Implement and align HR initiatives to the business strategy which includes the ability to identify, analyze, understand, and articulate business goals and objectives at the company, plant and business unit level.
  • Operate as a trusted advisor to site leadership. 
  • Serve as the HR lead on key business projects.   
  • Lead, advise, and engage the facility in the following areas:
    • Diversity and Inclusion initiatives
    • Organizational Development
    • Leadership Development
    • Employee Relations
    • Attraction and retention strategies
    • Performance Management
    • Succession planning 
  • Develop strategies that create an equitable experience for all employees, with a sharp eye toward mitigating bias and driving improvements in organizational health from a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) perspective. 
  • Provide leadership to the business by understanding the business model, consulting, engaging in creative problem solving and applying effective talent solutions to proactively address strategic and operational challenges. 
  • Improve manager and employee performance by communicating where gaps exist and where solutions can be applied by developing and pulling on strong operational and process levers. 
  • Strategically apply, monitor, and enforce employment laws, regulations, policies, and procedures 
  • Anticipate and proactively address potential issues at the site level while managing expectations.  
  • Build manager capability through coaching, mentoring, and training.  
  • Ensure the site has appropriate talent depth and a robust pipeline of future talent. 
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulatory activities, including but not limited to Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA). 
  • Manage union grievances, mediations, arbitrations, and assist in interpreting and administering the collective bargaining agreement (CBA). 
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with union representatives to ensure the labor-management issues are addressed in a timely manner and resolved.  
 Position Requirements 
  • Bachelor’s degree is required; MBA preferred.  
  • Seven (7) years of related HR experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility is required. Experience should include collaboration with senior leadership. 
  • Must be an excellent leader with high interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills. 
  • Capable of communicating effectively and widely to all levels of the organization is required.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with all stakeholders and think proactively to achieve results is required.
  • Experience effectively managing in a matrixed structure is preferred.
  • Ability to facilitate and drive strategic discussions is required.
  • Ability to travel to regional locations as required.
  • Skilled in identifying, analyzing, and resolving problems in a timely manner. 
  • Proficient skill level with Microsoft Excel and Word is required.
  • Ability to work independently with multiple demands and timelines is required.
  • Must be able to exercise effective judgement, sensitivity, creativity to changing needs and situations.
  • High level of integrity, trust, and ethics are required.
  • Bi-lingual English/Spanish languages a plus.
  • Union experience is strongly preferred.
 
The pay for this role in the state of CA ranges from $130,000 - $165,000 and is based on the position responsibilities and geographic location.  Actual pay within this range may be determined based on candidate’s experience, qualifications and/or other determining factors.
