Reporting to the to the Director, Regional Quality Systems (QS), the 2025 Summer Intern: Food Safety (QS) role will act as facilitator to create and document the Food Safety and Quality (FS-Q) practices required for elaborating foods and handling food-related materials (including packaging and labeling) within the pilot plants located in the Chicago - Consumer Service Center (CSC).
The ideal candidate should have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with cross-functional personnel.
Position Responsibilities
- In coordination with the Director QS, align in FS-Q expectations for pilot plants: practices, records, and verification activities.
- Document procedures, working instructions and formats as required.
- Coordinate meetings with cross functional teams to review drafts, and before its final approval.
- Document final versions, prepare communication material and socialize procedures with identified users and stakeholders.
- Conduct a gap assessment to create the baseline, to identify good practices, key learnings, and priorities for compliance with the FS-Q expectations.
- Align with pilot plant owners with action plans.
- With the supervisor, create metrics to control and track compliance after the requirements are implemented.
Position Requirements
- Currently enrolled in an accredited BS or MS program majoring in Food Science or related discipline.
- Ideal candidate has Total Quality, Food Science, Food Safety, or related disciplines knowledge understanding basic food and beverage industry requirements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
- Ability to walk the CSC facilities, observe and verify critical to food safety and quality activities.
- Skilled using basic Microsoft applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Teams.
