Reporting to the Innovation Manager, the Summer 2025 Intern: Product Development will learn about food ingredients, product development, and research. They will acquire this knowledge by supporting the Innovation team while completing an estimated 10-12-week summer project. This intern will work with product development and will present their findings to the team at the completion of the internship.
The project will focus on application development or research topics. This project can include, but is not limited to, developing baked goods, beverages, ice cream and/or dairy products. The goal is to create new and innovative ofi ingredient based products.
Position Responsibilities
- Work with and learn from the Innovation team on the product formulations
- Conduct laboratory tests and sensory analysis panels.
- Assist the Innovation team members with customer inquiries and internal projects.
- Perform basic culinary skills for bakery, dairy and confectionary applications such as measuring, mixing, and baking ingredients.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
- Currently enrolled in an accredited BS or MS degree program, and majoring in Food Science or a related discipline is required.
- Firm knowledge of chemistry and biology with the ability to apply this knowledge to food systems is required.
- The ability to work effectively within a fast-paced environment is required.
The pay for this role in the state of Illinois is $22- $23 /hour and is based on the position responsibilities and geographic location.
** Interns with a permanent address more than 35 miles from the work location are eligible to receive a stipend to offset relocation and housing costs.
