Position Summary
 
Reporting to Director of Supply Planning, Sr. Supply Planner will support the attainment of the Company's targeted operational metrics (fill, inventory levels, service rates and lead times to customers, etc.) by continually improving and balancing demand and supply planning for Parsley while assisting with Onion/Garlic process. Sr. Supply Planner will have direct supervisory responsibility of the Caps business planning.  In their capacity as tactical administrator of S&OP, the Sr. Supply Planner will be required to develop and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders outside of planning (Sales, Product Line, Manufacturing Operations, Customer Operations, Finance, HR, IT, etc.) 
 
Position Responsibilities
 
  • Responsible for the optimization of the Company's Supply Plans consistent with overall corporate objectives. 
  • Administer S&OP for Parsley Business to aid in accurate supply & demand forecasts. 
  • Review current supply planning processes and identify opportunities to improve fulfillment of the demand and sales orders while achieving inventory objectives. 
  • Maximize value of inventory by careful selection and disposition of inventories; utilize rework, in-process materials for highest value product consistent with sales requirements. 
  • Support quality of product line by careful scheduling of consistent input material, ensuring adequate retesting of material to meet customer requirements, provide trace ability, and work with Quality Assurance (QA) personnel on training issues, test results. 
  • Deliver Summary KPI reports relating to the performance and improvement activities of the above processes and systems. 
  • Attain optimum utilization of materials, achieve capacity, yields and overall cost reduction. 
  • Plans for net new and second-pass manufacturing processes to support sales requirements for commodity product lines. 
  • Translate plans into shop orders; choose input materials, and line-load manufacturing systems. 
  • Utilize forecast, coverage reports, inventory reports and knowledge of products to ensure shippable product to meet customer demand. 
  • Ensure compliance with all Federal, State and Local regulations regarding food safety. 
  • Schedule re-works, re-processing of aged or damaged packaged goods. 
  • Ensure that Re-work, in-process and un-shippable inventory is minimized; inventory turns and aging requirements supported 
  • Manage transition and logistics of outdated material. 
  • Partner with Quality Assurance to resolve customer complaints 
  • Manage customer backlog and orders and provide communication to customer ops team for order delays 
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 
 
Position Requirements
  • Bachelors’ degree in business, supply chain or other related fields is required. Candidates with five (5) years Planning leadership experience can substitute experience in lieu of degree.
  • Five (5) years’ experience with relevant forecasting, demand planning, or supply chain management experience in food manufacturing is required. Candidates substituting experience in lieu of degree require a total of ten (10) years previous planning experience.
  • Five (5) years’ experience working in production/inventory control-performing production reporting, calculations, physical inventory, reconciliation and database control is preferred.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate with other departments is required.
  • Experience and ability to drive products through tactical, meaningful demand / supply planning with thoughtful/analytically viewed recommendations is required.
  • Experience working with ERP systems is required.
  • Ability to solve complex problems and present effective and efficient solutions in a clear and concise manner to management is required.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written is required. Must be detail orientated with strong attention to detail and organization. Must be available to work extended days and hours during the fresh pack season (approximately July through October).
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Access, and Excel) is required.
