Position Summary
Reporting to Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Technician II will repair and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines/equipment. The ideal candidate will have prior general knowledge of food manufacturing equipment and can follow both verbal and written instructions.
Job Summary: A Maintenance Technician II is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and installation of electromechanical systems and equipment. They play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation of machinery and systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Care and maintain all equipment and production assets in a safe, sanitary, and efficient condition.
- Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing maintenance requirements (both planned and unplanned) on production, packaging, processing equipment, and utility systems (to provide a continuous supply of heat, steam, cooling, electrical, power, gas, or air required for operations).
- Be readily available for emergency repairs in breakdown situations.
- Read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, electrical schematics, service manuals and work orders to perform required.
- Observes/inspects mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
- Safely dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts (LOTO).
- Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
- Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.
- Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.
- Repairs or replaces defective parts.
- Installs special functional and structural parts in devices.
- Lubricates and cleans parts.
- Starts devices to test their performance.
- Sets up and operates, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts with proper training and experience.
- Initiate/completes work orders through CMMS for parts and machines.
- Complies with all safety rules, policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Equipment Maintenance and Repair:
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and diagnose issues with electromechanical equipment.
- Perform routine maintenance to ensure equipment operates efficiently.
- Repair or replace faulty components, such as motors, sensors, switches, and wiring.
Installation and Calibration:
- Install new electromechanical equipment and systems.
- Calibrate equipment to meet specified performance criteria.
- Ensure proper alignment and integration of mechanical and electrical components.
Testing and Evaluation:
- Conduct tests to evaluate the performance and functionality of equipment.
- Use various tools and instruments for measurement and analysis.
- Document test results and make necessary adjustments.
Documentation and reporting:
- Experience using SAP maintenance systems preferred.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance and repair activities.
- Create reports on equipment status, maintenance history, and recommendations for improvements.
- Provide feedback to engineering teams for design enhancements.
Safety Compliance:
- Ensure all equipment and systems meet safety standards and regulations.
- Follow safety protocols and promote a safe working environment.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with engineers, other technicians, and production staff to resolve technical issues.
- Participate in project teams for equipment upgrades and modifications.
Troubleshooting:
- Identify and troubleshoot complex technical problems in electromechanical systems.
- Implement effective solutions to minimize downtime.
Training and Support:
- Train and mentor junior technicians or operators on equipment operation and basic maintenance tasks.
- Provide technical support to production personnel.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree or vocational training in electromechanical technology, electrical engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical principles.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and instruments.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Basic PLC troubleshooting skills is preferred.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and practices.
- Ability to read and interpret technical schematics and drawings.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Adaptability and willingness to learn about new technologies and equipment.
