Position Summary
Reporting to the Sr. Shipping Manager, the Shipping and Receiving Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the international and domestic shipping, receiving operations and Fumigation process for the Livingston Plant. The Shipping Supervisor will lead the shipping team by enforcing procedures to improve quality, productivity and efficiency. They will interact with various departments and vendors to ensure accuracy of shipping and receiving transactions.
The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational and customer service skills. They will be able to communicate effectively with all staff and external stakeholders.
Position Responsibilities
- Oversee the Livingston departments including Shipping, Receiving, Fumigation, Quality Control and Inventory.
- Manage personnel engaged in verifying and keeping records on incoming and outgoing product, preparing orders/runs for shipment, and the loading and unloading of product.
- Assign workload tasks, measure results, and leads hands-on execution of all shipping, receiving and fumigation activities.
- Define new data collection and analysis processes
- Establish objectives for increased output and improved efficiency
- Oversees the operations to ensure accuracy, completeness and condition of shipments.
- Ensure that all safety rules, regulations and security protocols are followed
- Coordinates with trucking companies to meet the required shipping/receiving needs.
- Manage the process of weighing all incoming outgoing products, completion of weight certificates, placement of seals and relevant data entry.
- Conduct an annual weighing of wood bins to deduce a common tare weight and completes the Common Tare Notice for the State Division of Measurement Standards.
- Oversee USDA scheduling and sampling process. This includes employee training and record keeping.
- Perform all other job-related tasks as assigned by immediate manager
- Be responsible for commitment on providing quality products and services with an emphasis on Food Safety, legality and integrity.
- Perform and oversees monthly warehouse inventory counts.
- Actively observe and monitor materials and labor to achieve optimum capacity and overall cost reduction.
- Oversee inventory control activities in the warehouse to ensure proper rotation, usage and shipment of goods.
- Make recommendations to improve customer service, efficiency, or shipping processes to ensure deliveries are made on-time, in-full Perform other duties as assigned.
- Supervise warehouse transactions and maintain shipping documentation in order from acceptance to fulfillment.
- Safeguard warehouse operations and contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols.
- Assist Inventory coordinator by supervising and tracking inventory methods to ensure inventory meets all standard requirements per customer and quality specifications.
- Supervise operations including receiving, warehousing, and distribution, while following company policies and procedures.
- Recommend and implement alternate approaches and solutions for identified technical issues.
- Maintain a culture based on open and honest dialogue and involvement of all team members that demonstrates the value of their input and engagement in improving performance.
- Ensure compliance with all Federal, State, and local regulations regarding occupational health, food safety, and environmental compliance. Advise management on related/ impacted actions needed.
- Complete warehouse operational requirements by adequately scheduling employees and following up on work results.
- Ensure every shipment leaving to the customer, other ofi facilities, outside warehouses, etc. conform to ofi standards for shipment quality.
- Maintain warehouse job results through coaching, counseling, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results. Perform disciplinary action as needed.
- Be Proactive in maintaining all Warehouses in a clean and sanitary state ready for unannounced internal audits, and customer audits.
- Contribute to team projects to accomplish successful results.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
- High School Diploma is required. Bachelor’s degree in business or related field is preferred.
- Four (4) years of Production/Shipping/Receiving/Logistics/Warehouse or Inventory Management experience is required. Candidates with a bachelor’s degree only require two (2) years of previous production, logistics or inventory management experience. Experience in a manufacturing and/or Food Safety environment is preferred.
- Five (5) Years of supervisory experience is required.
- Must have a high level of competency with manufacturing/inventory systems, and advanced skills in spreadsheets and database experience is required.
- The ability to work with a positive attitude in a high stress environment is required.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is strongly preferred.
- Forklift Certification is required. Candidates without current Forklift Certification will be required to attain it within three (3) months of starting the position.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills is required.
- Effective organizational and communication skills are required.
- Knowledge and understanding of the following programs and regulations pertaining to a food processing plant:
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
- Knowledge of Food Safety
- Knowledge of Food Defense
The pay for this role in the state of California ranges from $69,000 - $89,000 and is based on the position responsibilities and geographic location. Actual pay within that range may be determined based on candidate experience, qualifications and/or other determining factors.
