Position Summary
Reporting to the Labeling Supervisor, the Whallon Machine Operator is responsible for the operation and accurate record keeping of the Whallon Machine, which mechanically maneuvers layers of canned product on or off pallets to labeling lines.
Position Responsibilities
- Reviews periodically and understands all Standard Work & Operating Instructions of the Whallon equipment including safety instructions, control panel, safety switches (E-STOP), safety features, pre-operating procedures, and operating procedures.
Note: Never reach or stand on the accumulation pattern table and or stand under the path of the lifting magnet while the Whallon is operating.
- Observes/monitors operation of the machine to ensure it is operating properly.
- Make line movement decisions based on product tickets and tags.
- Make line movement decision based on product codes and can sizes and assure accurate and timely line records.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Must follow all safety and operating procedures.
- Follow company policies and Good Manufacturing Practices to meet customers’ expectations and help maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
- Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and comply with all safety policies and requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
- Minimum education required
- Minimum years of experience required
- Follow company policies and Good Manufacturing Practices to meet customers’ expectations and help maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
- Must be able to read simple instructions in English.
- Must be able to speak and explain others the tasking in progress.
- Must be able to perform the four mathematical functions: add, subtract, multiply and divide.
- Be able to work in a light industrial and somewhat warm environment during summer or cool areas during the winter.
- Physical Demands - While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk; use hands; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift, push and/or move up to 40 pounds.
- Learn and understand product codes and can sizes and assure accurate and timely records.
