Position Summary
 
Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the Operator will operate the designated piece of equipment once all training requirements have been met.  The ideal candidate will be a motivated, self-starter who is capable of learning and following all processes as well as safety policies and GMPs.
 
Position Responsibilities
  • Reads job order for product specifications such as can dimensions and tolerances, and tooling instructions to set machine appropriately for product run.
  • Sets up machine to correct specifications and starts machine.
  • Operates control panel and turns valve handle as appropriate to control machine can feed and speed functions for specified product run.
  • Observes operation of machine and verifies conformance of machine to specifications and makes appropriate adjustments.
  • Ability to perform tear-downs to do inspections as necessary once training for this job process is completed.
  • Ability to learn all different can sizes used in the seaming process and follow procedure when discarding or removing damaged or dented product.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of product and process.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.  
 
 
  • Must demonstrate basic understanding of machine operation and process under direct supervision.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
 
Position Requirements
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read or write in either English or Spanish. Bilingual preferred.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • An individual should have knowledge of Internet software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software. Preferred but not required.      
  • Frequently required to walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance and taste or smell.
  • Must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
