Position Summary
Reporting to the Senior Accountant, the Staff Accountant will provide support for the day-to-day finance function as well as preparing monthly financial closing and related reporting for the Private Label Spices business. This position will also provide financial analysis in such areas as ensuring the correct controls, processing and accounting policies and ensuring these protocols are properly reflected in our accounting system. The staff accountant's responsibilities include maintaining financial records and reports, performing account reconciliations, assisting with budget and close processes, and conducting internal audits.
The ideal candidate for this position will work well both independently as well as on a team. They should have a strong attention to detail and be able to manage multiple competing demands while ensuring accuracy and deadlines are met.
Position Responsibilities
• Provide support in tax filings, including business tax certificates and 1099’s.
• Assist in providing schedules and commentary with respects to operating maintenance account results and variances, and with the production of working capital, cash-flow reports, as well as applicable commentary.
• Provide support in all aspects of inventory, risk, and compliance reporting.
• Develop a good understanding of the management accounting and reporting processes.
• Assist in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Support timely monthly, quarterly, half-year, and year-end financial close, including assigned journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, bank reconciliations, accruals, and overall maintenance of all operational management accounts.
• Develop a good understanding of the management accounting and reporting processes.
• Assist with internal and external audit and reporting projects.
• Ensure compliance with accounting policies and regulatory requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree is required, majors in finance, accounting or related field are highly preferred.
• Three (3) years of experience in accounting is required.
• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel) is required; SAP/Plex experience preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills are required.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks accurately and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment is required.
• Ability to build relationships and work well in a team-oriented environment is required.
• Must be able to work with diverse team across geographies.
The pay for this role in the state of California ranges from $73,000 - $95,000 and is based on the position responsibilities and geographic location. Actual pay within this range may be determined based on candidate’s experience, qualifications and/or other determining factors.
