Position Summary
Reporting to the Plant Controller, Spices Private Label Olde Thompson, the Senior Cost Accountant will be responsible for supporting the monthly financial closing, analysis, reporting, forecasting, and budgeting processes for the Finance team. They will support manufacturing locations in Oxnard, CA & Bayonne, New Jersey.  They will be responsible for the coordination and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders in a timely and efficient manner. The ideal candidate will possess great attention to detail and data analysis experience to be successful in this role. They must be able to prioritize and complete multiple projects on strict deadlines.
Position Responsibilities
  • Plant Standards – Creation and maintenance of plant product/production standards including standard cost estimates, product set-up costs, Bill of material maintenance, conversion costs, creation of cost centers, indirect cost and overhead allocations and all other standard cost related activities.
  • Reporting and Analysis – Publishing and reconciliation process order/work order variance throughput, source of loss, downtime, and margin analysis. Driving preparation of Key Performance Indicator (KPI) Dashboard.
  • Forecasting and Budget – Lead annual review of production standards with plants and leadership to ensure cost management, optimization, full fixed and variable absorption, and product/customer margin. Coordinate annual standards based on cost budget, production and sales plans.
  • Working Capital – Manage perpetual inventory quantities and values, monitor cycle and/or physical inventories, and reporting and analysis of variances.
  • Prepare variance analysis of operational costs in whole dollars and in per unit.
  • Perform ad hoc analysis as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is required.
  • Five (5) years of finance experience is required.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal is required.
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Office Suites are required.
  • Excellent teamwork, relationship building, and coordinative skills; must be able to work with diverse team across geographies is required.
  • Familiar with modern ERP systems. Plex or SAP a plus.
  • Familiar with business intelligence and consolidation tools (PowerBI, Tableau, BPC, Cognos, or similar) is highly preferred.
  • Ability to be a self-starter, comfortable developing tools and processes to bring clarity to complex situations is required.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks accurately and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment is required.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 20% of the time is required.
