Position Summary

 Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the Lift Truck Operator will be responsible for the movement and palletizing of the bulk drums being produced at the spouts. Responsible for loading and unloading of trailers. 

The ideal candidate will be able to act proactively to ensure smooth and effective operations and report issues to management immediately and to effectively communication with all members of team.

 Position Responsibilities

  • Responsible for loading and unloading of trailers.
  • Transport of product throughout the warehouse.
  • Effective communication with all members of team.
  • Effective organization skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary work environment.
  • Ensure bill of lading and all necessary documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Support all other team members as needed, reinforcing a team driven atmosphere.
  • Responsible for the movement and palletizing of the bulk drums being produced at the spouts.
  • Responsible for making sure bulk drums are labeled with both production and spout labels as well as ensuring completed pallet has a pallet label assigned to it.
  • Responsible for securing and inspecting the stability of the trailers prior to loading via the use of dock locks, chocks, stands and air locks.
  • Ensure that all inbound and outbound trailers are thoroughly inspected, and the documentation is completed.
  • Responsible for staging, scanning, and loading trailers in a timely manner, making sure that the product is secure.
  • Verifying that the weight of the trailer is within required guidelines as well as ensuring the weight is evenly distributed in the trailer for transport.
  • Responsible for daily completion of forklift and yard goat inspection checklist prior to use.
  • Ensuring that all forklift propane tanks, and yard truck diesel fuel is topped off and the end of the shift.
  • Responsible for reporting any issues and damage to equipment or facility to the Mill Lead immediately.
  • Ensure all product labels are scanned and are correctly placed on each drum.
  • Responsible for securely palletizing product onto pallet by proper positioning and shrink wrap, securely and safely staging palletized product in warehouse and safe transport of product.
  • Responsible for providing coverage as needed for Mill department breaks and lunches.
  • Responsible for loading and unloading of inbound and outbound trucks as well as receiving and storage of drums and materials.
  • Ensure that all lids of completed bulk bins are cleaned thoroughly when palletized and prior to loading.
  • Sweep the warehouse, empty garbage, and regularly maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Regularly monitor supply inventory of tools and materials needed to perform your job safely and efficiently (shrink wrap, tape, ribbon, towels, etc.)
  • This position is not limited to those duties in the job description. Duties and responsibilities can be changed, expanded, reduced, or deleted to meet the business needs of the organization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements 

  • Capable of lifting 50 lbs. consistently throughout a shift.
  • Capable of safely maneuvering drum that weigh up to 275 lbs.
  • Ability to stand on feet for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers and department Leads.
  • Ability to work overtime as required.
  • Ability to work in fast paced and noisy production environment.
  • Ability to take direction from the department leads and work in a team driven atmosphere.
  • Ability to wear all appropriate PPE.
  • Successful Completion of Powered Industrial Truck Certification Training.
  • Knowledge of basic mathematics and measurement principles.
  • Knowledge of bar code scanners for drum and palletized material identification
  • Understand and follow all Good Manufacturing Practices, and Safety regulations.
  • Ability to wear and use all assigned personal protective equipment (hard hat, gloves, eye protection, ear plugs and steel toe footwear/nonslip, etc.).
