Position Summary

Reporting to Lead forklift mechanic, the forklift mechanic will perform assigned task such as, preventative care and repairs on all ofi mobile equipment, (forklifts, man lifts, and company vehicles). The mechanic will diagnose and repair engines, transmission and differentials, belts, pulleys, and perform other mechanical repairs in a timely manner. Must maintain a clean organized working environment, accurate and up to date detailed repair records.

Position Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative care and repairs on all ofi mobile equipment (forklifts, company vehicles, man lifts, and lawn care equipment. etc.)
  • Ensure the safety of the fleet to prevent accidents or injuries
  • Must maintain a clean organized working environment and ensure area where work is performed is cleaned when the task is completed.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date, detailed repair records
  • Be responsible for maintaining ofi’s commitment on providing quality products and services with an emphasis on Employee Safety, Food Safety, Legality and Integrity.
  • Able to diagnose and repair electric forklifts, liquid propane (LP) forklifts, boom lifts, scissor lifts in a timely manner.
  • Be proactive in identifying forklift maintenance opportunities
  • Timely communicate issues and resolution
  • Observance of all safety rules and regulations
  • Accountable to maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Perform all other job-related tasks as assigned by immediate lead/supervisor.
  • Maintain satisfactory attendance to include timeliness.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

  • High School Diploma, State-issued equivalency certificate, or degree from technical/vocational school is required.
  • 1-3 years’ experience required.
  • Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record. Required to obtain a California driver’s license within thirty (30) days of hire.
  • Available to work at all three facilities.
  • Must gain/possess certification to operate all lifts, including but not limited to forklifts, scissors lifts, and boom lifts.
  • Ability to perform and comprehend verbal and written communication in English is required.
  • Bilingual, English and Spanish, is preferred.
  • Required to work overtime as needed.
  • Ability to perform tasks with accuracy.
  • Ability to read and understand wire schematics
  • Individual must work well with others.
  • Required to climb stairs and ladders; required to conduct work at heights.
  • Required to comply with Company GMP policies.
  • Be responsible on maintaining ofi’s commitment to provide quality products and services with an emphasis on safety, food safety, legality, and integrity.
  • Preferred qualifications include experience with mechanical, electrical, hydraulics, welding, fabrication, diagnostic, troubleshooting, reading and understanding schematics.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, overtime and weekends during harvest season is required.
  • Ability to focus on task by restraining from unnecessary talking and other distractions.
  • Individual should be self-motivated attention to detail.
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), (eye, ear, head protection and safety shoes).
  • Must have a good sense of balance & good eye-hand-foot coordination.
  • Knowledge and/or understanding of the following programs and regulations pertaining to a food processing plant:
    • GMP’s
    • Food Safety
    • HACCP

The pay for this role in the state of California is $27.95 - $34.16 and is based on the position responsibilities and geographic location.
