Position Summary
Reporting to Director of Food Safety, the Microbiologist Intern will be responsible for initiating and executing project-related tasks and conducting microbiological analyses in the Corporate Microbiology research laboratory located in Fresno, California. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented team player with experience in microbiology/biology and is motivated to use microbiology principles for real-world food safety applications.
Position Responsibilities
- Provide microbiology analytical support to corporate food safety/quality projects
- Initiate and executes microbiological analyses of foodborne microorganisms
- Prepare and analyze data, write reports, technical write-ups
- Potential to work with manufacturing plants within USA for projects and plant level trials
- Comply with good laboratory practices, biohazard safety standards through proper handling of chemicals and microorganisms.
- Assist with good maintenance of the corporate microbiology laboratory
- Occasional travel possible to manufacturing plants for projects (Travel <10% of time)
- Perform other relevant duties as assigned
Position Requirements
- Currently enrolled in an accredited BS or MS degree program and majoring in Microbiology, Biology, food science or related programs with a focus on microbiology/biology.
- 1-3 years of laboratory hands-on experience
- Understanding a variety of food-related microorganisms and relevant methods is a plus
- Proficient skills with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word etc)
- Good team and interpersonal skills
