Position Summary

The Mill Room Operator is responsible for overseeing the production through Mill Room # 1 and the Onion Mill.  Monitor product coming in from Dehydration/Blue Jay and assist Lead setting up milling equipment to maximize piece size and recovery. Perform and record HAACP checks. Ensure finished material is weighted to desired weight and properly labeled.

Position Responsibilities 

  • Monitor incoming material from Onion Dehy and Blue Jay area through the milling process.
  • Monitor and adjust milling/separation machinery with the HMI screen.
  • Maximize milling equipment to meet quality standards (e.g., root crown, skins, and root tendrils) and fraction ratio. Includes routine cleaning of color sorters.
  • Perform and document metal detector checks, re-screener checks and weight verifications. 
  • Ensure finished material is packaged and ready for storage.
  • Use scanners to properly label and verify finished material. 
  • Communicate with Lead and Production Assistant with regards to Batch changes and Process Order changes, due to shift and region changes.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area at all times.
  • Communicate any issues in the Onion Milling Area to the Milling Lead, Supervisors, and Management as needed.
  • Assist Lead with troubleshooting, repairing equipment, unplugging equipment, and maintaining communication with maintenance.
  • Communicate with Onion Dryer Operators and Blue Jay Operators when unable to process incoming material from Dryers.
  • Must be able to work all Mill Rooms and Packout Areas.
  • Must be multi-task oriented.
  • Comprehend verbal and written communication in English.
  • Ensure compliance with all Company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure a safe, healthy work environment by following all safety, health and environmental policies, procedures, and regulations per the Company's IIPP, GMP's, job safety practices and other related programs.
  • Ability to comply with PPE: bump cap, safety glasses, face shield, boots, rubber boots, gloves, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned per job responsibilities.

 Position Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one-year related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Any Production or Manufacturing experiences is a plus.
  • Maintain Lock Out, Tag Out (LOTO) annual certification and displays proficiency with LOTO application.
  • Work overtime and weekends as needed.
  • Work and rotate all shifts.
  • Ability to work alone with minimal supervision.
  • Work and rotate all work areas in specific department.
  • Must have good attendance and work record (Existing Employees)

The pay for this role in the state of CA is $19.02/hr. and is based on the position responsibilities and geographic location.
